 What will the Premate test tell me? The PREMATE test will pinpoint the day she ovulates !!! Her eggs are fertilizable 48 hours after ovulation, so you will know exactly when to breed her locally, or ship her for mating, or when to order the "Chilled Semen" from that far-away stud dog. The PREMATE test will tell you if she is having a "split heat". Many bitches do this. She will approach ovulation and then stop before ovulation occurs. She may wait 2 or 3 days or longer ( I have had bitches wait up to 10 days) before ovulating. The PREMATE test will tell you if she is having a "false heat". This is not uncommon. I have seen bitches ovulate as late as day 23 of their cycle. But if, by day 25, PREMATE has not detected ovulation, she probably is having a false heat. A proper heat will usually occur in 4-6 weeks. The PREMATE test will tell you if she has ovulated while having a "silent heat". A silent heat ( no swelling or bleeding) is a difficult situation to cope with, but by using your calendar, and the PREMATE tests, you probably will be able to get her pregnant!! The PREMATE test will tell you if you require a Caesarian Section NOW !! The test result, when the whelping due date has arrived and labour has not started, will revert back to the non-ovulatory colour. Progesterone levels RISE as ovulation approaches, and then drops to cause the onset of labour and delivery.
