![]() How does PREMATE work?
Each Premate kit contains: 32 micro wells, a bottle of Control A, a bottle of Control B, a bottle of Reagent C, and a bottle of Reagent D, as well as multiple "straws", and directions for use. Each kit will provide 10 complete tests. You will need only a drop of her serum or plasma, from a fresh blood sample of about 2.0 ml. If you draw the blood yourself from a vein, into a clean plain tube, the sample will separate in about 45 minutes. The clot will go to the bottom and the clear fluid to the top ( the serum). If a centrifuge is used, the plasma will rise to the top in a matter of minutes. Either plasma or serum will give identical results !!! For a centrifuged sample - use a lavender stoppered tube with EDTA. Many breeders who aren't able to draw their own blood, will have their veterinarian draw the blood, and then the breeder takes the sample home to do the test. It is a simple, 2 stage test that will give you accurate results in 30 minutes, when you can compare her colour to the colours in the other 2 wells !! You can do this test at your convenience any time of the day or evening, on holidays and Sundays. The kit is kept in the refrigerator with the exception of Control D which is stored in the freezer. All the components need to be brought to room temperature prior to use, including Control D. This takes about 45 minutes. You will use 3 micro wells for each test. Many bitches use 2 -3 tests before mating, BUT, it has been my experience that the outward signs breeders have traditionally looked at - the behaviour of the bitch and the dog, the vulva swelling and the discharge ARE NOT necessarily an indication of what's happening in her body, and that more tests may be required to determine ovulation has occured. Pinnacle Pet Supply sends a complimentary booklet of information, simplified instructions for use, a colour comparison chart as well as a video to each new "PREMATE" customer, and we are always available for telephone consultations. ![]()
