 How does this Chilled Semen work?Insemin-aid usage for the dog stud owner"How-To's"When you receive the Insemin-aid vial frozen on dry ice, lying on its side in the upper carton, remove it by pulling it out through the slot. Immediately place the vial into the freezer, along with the BOTTOM cardboard carton of the Kanine Cooled Semen (KCS) shipper box which contains some gel packs, and is clearly marked "place in freezer". Discard the Dry Ice. The top carton goes into the refrigerator and is also clearly marked "place in refrigerator" DO NOT REMOVE OR TAMPER WITH THE GEL PACKS FROM THE CONTAINERS. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OPEN EITHER OF THE CARDBOARD BOXES. If this is a rental box, you will be liable for replacement damages. The top container of gel packs will probably be frozen from the dry ice. Make sure it is warmed up to refrigerator temperature before using it for shipping, or the semen will freeze. The top container will thaw to refrigerator temperature when stored in the frige for 24 hours. When the bitch owner calls to say that according to the Premate test, the bitch is ready for breeding, call your veterinarian ( who you have notified in advance of the planned mating ) to have the dog collected. At the time of collection, take the lower box from the freezer and place it in the bottom of the KCS box. Take the upper box from the refrigerator and place it on top of the freezer carton. Put the frozen Insemin-aid vial(s) in the slot between the gel packs in the refrigerator carton, add the black insulating foam on the top of the refrigerator pack, close the carton and take it and the dog to the veterinarian's office. Remove the Insemin-aid vial from the gel packs and warm the contents in your hand to room temperature. Stir it with a clean pipette to mix the contents, or rock it gently in your hand to mix thoroughly. DO NOT SHAKE IT. Collect the dog, ensuring that only the first and second fraction go into the collection tube. We do not want the 3rd fraction - the clear post ejaculate. There are 10-11 mls. of Insemin-aid in the 15 ml. vial. If your collection is more than 5 ml. throw out a little of the Insemin-aid, so that all of the dog's collection goes into the vial. The proportion is important - 2 parts of semen to 5 parts of Insemin-aid. You may increase the proportion of Insemin-aid if you wish, but do not decrease to below the 2:5 ratio. If the bitch owner wants 2 collections shipped, then a second KCS box, Insemon-aid and dry ice will have to be sent to the stud dog's owner A repeat mating can be done by the bitch owner from the original vial if the instructions are followed for splitting and storing it, but this is dependent on the quality and count of the semen collection. Place the vial of semen back in between the gel packs of the refrigerator portion carton, lying on it's side. Replace the thick black insulating foam. Seal the carton with clear tape. Add the address sticker with the receiver's name, address and phone number and take it to Federal Express or UPS for Overnight Shipping.
