When the Premate test turns the same as B (you should ideally be doing the test in the early morning) call the stud dog
owner to have the dog collected, as directed on the sheet for the stud dog owner. When the shipping carton arrives via Federal Express (I would suggest that you request that it be sent with instructions that you be called to pick it up, rather than wait for delivery) take the KCS box intact, and your bitch to your veterinarian. There, open the carton by slitting the tape - not tearing it off - and remove the vial from between the 2 gel packs. If you are planning to divide the quantity into 2 matings 12-24 hours apart, rock - DO NOT SHAKE - the cold vial in your hand to mix, BUT DO NOT WARM it, put half of the vial into another container, and return the cold vial, containing half of the Insemin-aid/sperm back in between the gel packs , replace the black foam and close up the carton immediately to take home and then place the vial on it's side in the refrigerator. Inseminating the bitch: Warm the contents of the vial in your hand and rocking it gently - SO NOT SHAKE- for about 10 minutes. Remove a drop of semen to examine under the microscope for count and motility. If the temperature is below body temperature, the sperm will appear sluggish at first. Insert the semen into the bitch, elevate her rear end for about 10 minutes, and then crate her for at least an hour - 2 hours is preferred. DO NOT ALLOW HER TO URINATE DURING THIS PERIOD OF TIME. If you have divided the collection for a second mating (this is usually done with the small breeds who cannot hold more than 5 ml. of liquid) repeat the procedure in 24 - 36 hours, following the above method.
